Women's commission demands arrest, action against culprits
Press Trust of India Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Women's Commission today demanded immediate arrest and awarding of exemplary punishment to those responsible for attacking and forcefully cutting the hair of a congress worker who unsuccessfully contested the recent civic polls.
]The commission has written to Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala in this regard.
The 50-year-old congress worker, Sathikumari, was attacked for allegedly contesting against the CPI-M candidate from the Perumkadavila block panchayat at Parassala in Thiruvananthapuram on November 11 and portions of her hair was forcefully chopped off.
KPCC President, V M Sudheeran and Health Minister, V S Sivakumar had visited Sathikumari, admitted to Parassala taluk hospital.
Chandy had described the incident as 'barbaric'.
