"Our country always considers women as mothers. Respect towards women is embedded in our sanskriti. So if they become unsafe nowadays that is a matter of shame for us," Joshi said at a meet to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

RSS worships 'Devi Shakti' as women are the embodiments of power, Joshi said and referred to the growing 'moral pollution' in society.

"Why should the female foetus be killed in a country which worships Devi Shakti?" he added.

Joshi, however, did not directly refer to the recent Delhi incident but cited incidents of sexual violence against women occuring throughout the country.

"It is regrettable that corruption has become the part of society," Joshi said.

The editor of heritage magazine Udbodhan, Swami Ritananda Maharaj of RKM said "swamiji had predicted India will become the world leader because of its strong spiritual base."

Gayeshpur(WB), Jan 11 (PTI) Observing that women are seen as mothers in 'Bharat', RSS General Secretary Suresh Joshi today lamented that women are most "unsafe nowadays".

"Our country always considers women as mothers. Respect toward women is embedded in our sanskriti. So if they become unsafe nowadays that is a matter of shame for us," Joshi said at a meet to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
