Written to complaint to police about pepper spray, knife in LS

Ponnam Prabhakar, Congress MP from Telangana, has given a written complaint to Delhi Police against the two MPs who had allegedly used pepper spray and carried a knife in the Lok Sabha while opposing the Telangana bill.
The complaint was lodged at Parliament Street police station last week, police said.
However, as the incident took place inside Parliament, Delhi Police have sought legal opinion whether a First Information Report (FIR) can be lodged in this regard or not.
"We have received a compliant but no FIR has been registered. We are checking with legal experts what has to be done in this regard," a senior police official said.

Police sources said Prabhakar's complaint said a criminal case should be lodged against Congress MP from Seemandhra L Rajagopal, who had used a can of pepper spray in Lok Sabha on February 13, and Telugu Desam Party's Venugopal Reddy for allegedly brandishing a knife. Reddy has denied carrying a knife inside parliament.
If the complaint filed by Prabhakar, who represents Karimnagar constituency is accepted, police may register a case under section 325 (punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code.

Ponnam Prabhakar, had complained to Speaker Meira Kumar and sought criminal action against Rajagopal and Venugopal Reddy.

Unprecedented pandemonium had broken out in the House when Rajagopal, who was opposed to the division of Andhra Pradesh, brought a can from which he sprayed pepper during the introduction of the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Bill, 2014, in the Lok Sabha February 13. Three MPs, including Prabhakar, had to be taken to hospital.
All political parties had demanded action against him. The government has already said it would not oppose whatever decision the Speaker takes in this regard.
Rajagopal had on February 18 tendered his resignation which was accepted by the Speaker. He also announced he was quitting politics.
