Rufsan, who had a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his arrest, was apprehended by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on Monday from Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station after a tip off that he was fleeing to Mumbai, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said.
On April 24, after receiving a PCR call about a pick-up van being rashly driven and also damaging police barricades and vehicles in Mathura Road, a PCR van had signaled the van to stop in New Friends Colony area.
As all police teams were alerted about the offending vehicle, another PCR van spotted it in Jaitpur.
"When the PCR van tried to intercept the pick-up, the gang fired at the police. Police did fire back, but were unable to stop them. Two FIR were filed against the gang after the incident," he said.
During investigation in these two cases, 35-year-old Jamshed was arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. Since then, police nabbed Rufsan after Jamshed revealed his name during interrogation.
"On Monday, police received a tip off that he would be leaving for Mumbai to settle there permanently following which they laid a trap near Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station and he was nabbed," Yadav added.
