Youth arrested for robbery

Police has arrested a former basketball player on charges of robbery and snatching incidents in Raipurwa police station area here.
The accused Ajay Singh (25) alias Laki Thakur, was arrested in course of routine checking at Karwalenagar locality last night, Police Superintendent of East, Rahul Choudhury said.
Singh was driving the two-wheeler, while his accomplice managed to give the police a slip.
During interrogation Singh told police that he was a basketball player and represented his club in various competitions, Choudhury said.
Singh, a resident of Karhai Gunjan Vihar, confessed that along with his friends he has committed loot and snatched gold chains on his motorcycle.

Two stolen gold chains, one kg of charas and the two-wheeler, which was being used in committing the crime, was seized from his possession, Choudhury said adding that police was in search of his friends.
