The incident took place last evening when the mother of the girl left her along with her brother in their house and went to a nearby market. The accused sneaked into their house and took the girl to his house, Police PRO Sukhada Narkar said.
"He took her to the mezzanine floor in his house and committed the crime. The girl later confided in her mother following which an FIR was lodged under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and relevant sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act," she said.
