The accused Bablu (26), a service centre mechanic, took the girl to his room in Qutbullapur area here last evening on the pretext of offering her chocolate and allegedly committed the crime.
He then shut her inside a cupboard and locked the door of his room and fled, police said, based on a complaint lodged by the girl's grandmother.
As the girl was missing, the family members and locals got suspicious of Bablu. They went to his room, broke up the door lock and on searching found the girl in the cupboard, Jeedimetla police inspector M Sudarshan said.
