Police said a group of three boys and two girls from Jodhpur colony had been to Chandrakona college to perform in a cultural evening yesterday.
While returning on their vehicle, they stopped in a roadside dhaba in the night to have food when they were confronted with some motor cycle borne youths.
The youths after some altercation, severely beat up the driver of the vehicle and attempted to molest the girls.
Some drivers of trucks passing by intervened following which the youths fled on their bikes.
