The 23-year-old singer, who quit One Direction in March, made his first TV appearance as a solo artist and performed his second single, "It's You", a song he previously explained was about Perrie, reported Female First.
"I just felt like I needed to put myself out there on that just because it was a form of therapy for me and it did help get me through some bad (thing)," he said.
He is currently dating model Gigi Hadid, who appears in the video for his debut single "Pillowtalk".
