Zinc prices fell by 1.03 per cent to Rs 163.70 per kg in futures trade today after speculators reduced their exposure amid muted demand at domestic spot markets.
Profit-booking by speculators too pressured prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month eased by Rs 1.70, or 1.03 per cent, to Rs 163.70 per kg in a business turnover of 790 lots.
The metal for delivery in May fell by a similar margin to trade at Rs 164.35 per kg in 18 lots.
Market analysts said zinc futures softened due to a weak trend in select base metals at the domestic spot markets amid low demand from consuming industries.
