The wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) witnessed active trading. Traded volume touched Rs 817.29 crore of which the treasury bills segment contributed Rs 304 crore.
Repo deals were done for Rs 150 crore for nine days to 14 days in the 11-30 per cent range.

Significantly, traders were also dumping corporate debentures in the secondary market accounting for a volume of Rs 241 crore and most of them were traded below par value. Brokers said State Bank of India, Unit Trust of India and the Life Insurance Corporation were buyers in the market.
The 15.50 per cent Sidbi bond was traded for Rs 82 crore at a yield of 15.31 per cent, the 15.5 per cent National Power Corporation bond for Rs 80 crore at a yield of 15.73 per cent and the MTNL bond for Rs 40 crore at 14.93 per cent.
The treasury bill maturing in April 10 was in demand and was traded for Rs 108 crore at a weighted yield of 16.29 per cent.
A repo deal for the 12.59 per cent gilt fetched Rs 10 crore at the rate of 30 per cent for 11 days.
The 13.70 per cent gilt maturing in 1999 for nine days collected Rs 60 crore at the rate of 21 per cent.
