MSE REPORT

Speculatives moved in a narrow range in restricted activity and declined slightly in the absence of buying support either from the institutions or the general investors on the Madras Stock Exchange yesterday.

A few scrips met with interested buying and reduced the downward trend to some extent. The MSE index slid by 8.39 points to close at 4,020.22 points.

The main losers included Eid Parry by Rs 5 to Rs 105, RIL further by Rs 7 to Rs 354.25, Sathyam Computer to Rs 142.75, Soft Solution by Rs 3.65 to Rs 151.80, Ashok Leyland eased at Rs 63.75, Calif Soft by Rs 1.50 to Rs 32, Hatsun Milk by Rs 2 to Rs 47, Kar Bank to Rs 61.25, Manjusharee Plant by Rs 7.50 to Rs 307.50, Rajapalayam by Rs 3 to Rs 2,875.

On the other hand, the ACC gained Rs 10.70 to Rs 1,170. Colgate Pal added by Rs 1.10 to Rs 287.80, Dr Reddy Lab by Rs 1.75 to Rs 330, ICICI by Rs 1.50 to Rs 87.05. ITC to Rs 571.55, Larsen by Rs 2.15 to Rs 189.20, Telco by Rs 8.85 to Rs 333.20.

ITC, RIL, SBI, Telco were the active counters of the day. The volume of transaction was better.
