B2 Stocks Attract Heavy Volumes

Illiquid B2 stocks continued to witnesses hectic trading interest at the bourses yesterday. Himachal Futuristic witnessed hectic trading activity. The scrip saw bulk deal of 20 lakh on the BSE. The scrip closed at Rs 13.45 at the BSE, up by Rs 1.55 while at the NSE, it closed at Rs 12.65 (+Rs 0.75). Indo Rama Synthetics was another scrip that continued to attract heavy volume. According to market circles, domestic institution as well as FIIs were sellers on the counter . The scrip closed yesterday at Rs 10.25 (+Rs 0.55) at the BSE witnessing a trading of 87.28 lakh shares while at the NSE, it closed at Rs 10.25 (+Rs 0.90).

Another scrip that attracted speculators attention yesterday was DCL Polyester. The scrip closed unchanged at Rs 2.35 and 2.40 at the BSE and the NSE respectively though it witnessed heavy trading volume.

The 30-scrip BSE Sensex closed yesterday at 3437.64, up by 26.76 points over the previous days close of 3401.88 points

According to BSE brokers, the market was mainly broker driven yesterday with foreign institutions making selective purchases, particularily in FMCG and pharmaceutical stocks.

Merind continued to hit the circuit filter mark at upper levels. The scrip remained unchanged on the BSE at Rs 158.20, having touched the 25 per cent weekly circuit filter limit . At the NSE, the scrip closed at Rs 170 (+Rs 15).

Lakme continued to hit lower end of the circuit filter.The scrip was freezed on the BSE having reached its 25 per cent limit. At the NSE, however, the stock fell by Rs 19 to close at Rs 165.

Procter and Gamble flared up on aggressive buying by FIIs. On the BSE, it closed at Rs 564 (+Rs 21) while at the NSE, it closed at Rs 562 (+Rs 25). Sesa Goa also attracted heavy volume. The scrip closed on the BSE at Rs 293 (+Rs19), and clocked a trade of 1.83 lakh.

Among the pharma stocks, SmithKline Beecham Pharma declined on profit taking by operators. The scrip closed at Rs 596, down by Rs three over the previous close. On the NSE, it fell by Rs three to close at Rs 599. Gujarat Ambuja Cement moved in a narrow range, closing at Rs 243, down by Re one on the BSE. On the NSE, the scrip declined by Rs two to close at Rs 242.

Among the software stocks, Pentafour Software moved up on buying support to close at Rs 200 (+Rs 9) on the BSE. It gained Rs eight on the NSE 8 to close at Rs 200. NIIT fell by Rs five to close at Rs 680 on the BSE. However, it was up by Rs two at Rs 679 on the NSE.
