Bajaj, Us Firm To Work On Electric Scooter System

Bajaj Auto Ltd has awarded a $100,000 contract to Unique Mobility Inc of the US to work with it and determine the feasibility of applying an electric scooter power system to the Indian giants autorickshaw, according to Electric Vehicle Today.

While Bajaj will supply a current model autorickshaw as a reference, Unique, Colorado-based company, will simulate both electric and hybrid electric power systems to forecast vehicle performance and range, the publication said.

Unique said the resulting data would be used to define electric and hybrid electric vehicle system architectures as well as the level of effort required for the next stage of power system development.

Unique mobility develops energy efficient electric and hybrid electric vehicle systems and manufactures high efficiency permanent magnet motors and controls for automotive, aerospace and industrial applications, the companys chairman and chief executive officer Ray Geddes.
