The project being designed by an American architect, would be completed in two phases and would house about 1,200 key professionals of the company, he said. The township would have a major software development centre, besides the necessary infrastructural facilities for its inhabitants.

He said the first phase of the Rs 60 -crore project would be completed by June next. while the second phase would be ready by 1999. The company would raise funds for it through institutional finance, internal accruals and private placement.

The idea had been conceived as software engineers spent a lot of time commuting between office and home. The morning travel left them fatigued, affecting the quality of the time for work, company officials explained when asked about the need to have a software development township.

BFL Software has been meeting the software requirements of major industrial houses around the globe for the last two-and-a-half years. Its clientele include the NCR Corporation of the US, Peritus, Lanair and Microhelp, British Comshare, Australian NEC, Astra AB of Sweden and Bertling Gmbh of Germany. However, the big names that deal with BFL are Compaq, Federal Express Corporation and Hyundai Electronics.The company operates in 10 locations around the globe.
