Bishnu Pradhan To Head Ico Globals India Operations

Bishnu D Pradhan has joined satellite telephony company ICO Global Communications as senior vice-president and general manager for India. Pradhan was earlier the executive director of Motorola Indias cellular infrastructure group.

Pradhan will lead ICOs operations in India, which has been identified as one of its key markets by the satellite company.

ICO is among seven satellite companies which will offer customers telephony services, using both handsets or vehicle-mounted terminals. Customers will be able to make calls from anywhere within the footprint of the satellite.

Prior to his assignment in Motorola, Pradhan was chairman and executive director of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) for five years until January 1996.

He led the development, technology transfer and manufacture of key switching and transmission systems.

Welcoming Pradhans recruitment in a statement from London, ICO chief executive officer Olof Lundberg said: With his appointment comes the opportunity for us (ICO) to push forward our plans in this key market.
