British Telecom and Telecom Consultants India (TCIL) yesterday ann-ounced a strategic alliance to provide consultancy services in telecom management and technology. Company officials said that the alliance would primarily target providing consulting services in India and developing countries.
The tie-up will be between BT Teleconsult, the telecom consulting arm of BT, and TCIL. The latter is a local telecom PSU, fully owned by the Union government. Teleconsult is a decade-old consulting company in the BT stable.
BT and TCIL have a common vision to provide expertise in global telecom and management consultancy in fast-evolving markets. "Leveraging from their expertise, the two companies will be working together to offer consultancy for their new telecom businesses and to aid state-owned telecom companies going through privatisation and entering deregulated environments," it said.
"We will work together to help our customers build state-of-the-art networks and a healthy business model," Arun Seth, managing director of BT India said. One of the biggest strengths that TCIL will bring to the table, he added, would be its local expertise. "Our expertise lies in all aspects of running a telecom business. This, combined with TCIL's knowledge in the developing countries, will be powerful combination to help our customers succeed in a globally competitive environment, he added.
A S Bansal, chairperson and managing director of TCIL said, "TCIL has an impressive clientele. Our customers vary from new businesses to the state-owned operators which want to develop solutions for global communications in the next century."
