Congress Overture To Farooq

Congress president Sitaram Kesri has directed party observers to ensure that the party nominee retires from the contest in favour of Farooq.

AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad yesterday admitted that such a move was being made, but said he was not aware whether the the party had already retired its nominee from Srinagar.

Farooq Abdullah yesterday criticised the BJP in a statement and said his party would never support a BJP government. However, it may just be a coincidence that his statement has come at a time when various United Front partners have been stating that they would neither support a BJP government nor a Congress governement.
