The market sentiment continued the down trend as prices of pivotals declined on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday.
The NSE-50 index closed at 977.00 points as against Fridays close of 1001.75, suffering a loss of 24.75 points.
Market sources except a further fall today as it is the last day of settlement at the exchange. The midcap index also declined by 26.16 points to 1096.82 from 1122.98 points on Friday.

The net traded value was Rs 1465.44 crore involving 585.77 lakh shares.
Hectic trading was led by ITC Ltd (Rs 553.35 crore), followed by State Bank of India (Rs 356.16 crore), Reliance Industries (Rs 183.66 crore), Tisco (Rs 81.72 crore) and Larsen and Toubro Ltd (Rs 85.73 crore)
Other scrips which witnessed hectic activity included BSES Ltd (Rs 44.36 crore), Telco (Rs 33.16), Associated Cement Companies (Rs 29.45 crore), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (Rs 27.97), Bajaj Auto Ltd ( Rs 16.35), Gujarat Ambuja Cement ( Rs 7.32 crore) and a good number of ohers.
The top five gainers were Orion synthetics Ltd, Reil Product Ltd, Kings International Aqua, Guj Optical Comm Ltd. and Polychem Ltd.
In the list of top five losers were International Computech (15 per cent ) Shivalik Loha Mills Ltd (15 per cent), Apollo Tubes Ltd (14.98 per cent), Sharat Seafoods (14.81 per cent), SRG Infotech (14.67 per cent).
The Over the Counter Exchange of India index yesterday recorded 96.88 points. The OTC index lost 0.26 points as against 97.98 points recorded on Friday.
