The ministers agreed a text that warns that languages that are excluded from the information revolution run the risk of marginalisation. Efforts must be made to ensure that all citizens have equal opportunities to participate in the information society.

The money will support projects to develop multilingual language resources such as electronic dictionaries, grammar books and data banks.
It will also support projects to promote localised multimedia software, machine translation and electronic communication between public authorities in different EU states.
