Govt Paper Tags Remain Ranged

Public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) has recorded a 22 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 73.71 crore in the first quarter of 1999-00 over the corresponding period of last year. The company's sales turnover was also up from Rs 281.44 crore to Rs 427.86 crore. The company saw its profit before tax grow from Rs 156.17 crore to Rs 197.16 crore over the same period. Nalco has achieved Y2K compliance in all areas of process automation. A compliance audit to this extent has also been carried out through external agencies. The cost of achieving Y2K compliance has been estimated at Rs 54.94 lakh.
