The Global Trust bank's exposure to the broking sector is 14 per cent of total fund and non-fund based exposure and is the highest compared with any other industry, according to the bank's balance sheet for the year 1999-2000.
The total exposure to the broking sector is Rs 879.44 crore.
The bank's total exposure rose by 48.45 per cent to Rs 6157.1 crore in 1999-2000. Of this the bank's total non fund based exposure rose by 56.52 per cent to Rs 1764.09 crore in 1999-2000 while the total fund based exposure rose by 45.44 per cent to Rs 4393.01 crore.
Of the components of non fund based exposure, guarantees rose by 64.94 per cent to Rs 1242 crore while letters of credit rose by 39 per cent to Rs 522.07 crore.
The second highest exposure of the bank is to the housing sector at 7.14 per cent of the total. In the `others' category the exposure is 9.55 per cent.
The bank's total lending to sensitive sector is of the magnitude of Rs 814 crore, amounting to 25 per cent of total advances.
Lending to the capital markets sector is Rs 515 crore and comprises 63.26 per cent of total lending to the sensitive sector.
Total advances to the real estate sector is Rs 179 crore and advances to commodities sector is Rs 120 crore.
The capital adequacy ratio of the bank stood at 13.68 per cent as on March 31, 2000. Of this, Tier I capital was 9.85 per cent and Tier II capital was 3.83 per cent.
The gross NPAs as at the end of March 2000 stood at Rs 49.33 crore. After provisions of Rs 21.47 crore, the net NPAs stood at Rs 27.86 crore. The ratio of net NPAs to net advances works out to 0.87 per cent.
Of the shareholders of the bank, IFC, Washington and Asian Development Bank , Manila hold 11.52 per cent and 8.24 per cent respectively.
Promoters and Associates hold 24.22 per cent while the holding of foreign institutional investors is 5.24 per cent.
The public shareholding is 46.44 per cent while NRIs and overseas corporate bodies hold 1.98 per cent.
