latest mega-event in the city turned out to be the 23rd AGM of

RIL and the board meeting to consider the bonus issue. While the

markets cheered the 1:1 bonus with the Reliance stock touching

new 52-week highs at the bourses on that day, the excitement for

shareholders at the Biria Matushii Hall in Mumbai was not any

less. Several shareholders complimented the RIL chairman

Dhirubhai Ambani for a liberal bonus, several references were

made to the 14-year exile'which shareholders suffered as the

previous bonus announced by RIL was iin September 1983. Dhirubhai

Ambani was defined as thekalyug ka Rama'with the 14-year exile

now complete. It was just another day of triuoiph for the Ambani.
