The Air-India board in a meeting last week appointed P B Kumar and J N Gogoi as deputy managing directors of the company.
Gogoi and Kumar were earlier directors in the engineering (overhaul) departments of the airline. They were the two senior-most directors on Air-India board.
The airline board is expected to appoint a third deputy managing director - most likely Aruna Mascarhanas - later to assist managing director M Mascarhanas. Aruna Mascarhanas is currently Air-India's director planning. M Mascarhanas replaced Brijesh Kumar as the Air-India managing director last year.THEvacancies to the two posts of deputy managing directors arose after M Mascarhanas, who was earlier deputy managing director, took over as the managing director and N C Padhi, the other deputy managing director who was on deputation returning to his original cadre.
