Lighthouses Panel

The government has appointed a 15-member central advisory committee to advise the government on erection, positioning of lighthouses or on any other kind of aid required for navigation, addition, alteration and removal of the lighthouses etc. The committee is headed by the surface transport secretary Yogendra Narain. Its tenure is for two years. Among the non-official representatives are two members of parliament besides a representative each from Larson & Toubro, Coastal Sail Vessel Owners' Association, the Federation of All India Sailing Vessels Industry Association and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
