New Tifr Telescope

A low energy gamma ray telescope for carrying out high resolution spectroscopic studies has been designed by scientists at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. The telescope will be utilised to conduct studies on solar flare, galactic and extra-galactic sources of cosmic x-ray and its background and gamma ray bursts. Making of the telescope is the part of a joint Indo-Russian astronomical experiment known as Natalaya-II.
