A letter terminating the deal was faxed from Kochi by the NFL acting chairman & managing director Abraham Thomas who is also the chief executive of another public sector unit, Fertilisers & Chemicals of Travancore (FACT).

Fertiliser secretary, Indrajit Chawdhuri said NFL had decided to terminate the contract as Karsan failed to deliver the urea even by the

extended deadline of October 4.

He said a decision to terminate the contract was taken after consulting the solicitor general and added that NFL will soon be initiating arbitration proceedings.
