Swiss watch major Raymond Weil is introducing 50 new models in India next month. This will complement the companys 150 existing models in India.

The watches will be targeted at the upper end of the market and will be priced between Rs 5,000 and Rs 25,000.

The company will market its watches through 35 select retail outlets. These will be mainly jewellery shops and include Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri and Danabhai Jewellers.

Raymond Weil manufactures eight categories of watches and about 800 versions globally. The different ranges are named after classical opera compositions. These are Parsifal, Othello, Fidelio, Tango, Tradition, Tradtion Mecanique and Chorus. The new models will be drawn from these categories. Globally, the company sells about 6,00,000 watches annually. It has also embarked on a drive to expand its dealership network in India. About 300 companies have queued up for dealerships, says M P Goel, managing director, Goel Ltd, which assembles the watches in India.

Raymond Weil, president of the company, who is in India, refused to spell out the number of watches sold in India. Besides, he was unwilling to disclose the number of pieces sold in India and the market share. It does not make sense to talk about market share as we are the only ones in this segment, Weil said.
