Silver Declines By Rs 75; Gnut Oil, Sugar Easy

An easy trend continued in groundnut oil at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai, yesterday. It eased further by Rs 4 at Rs 430 per 10 kg.

Meanwhile, imported palmolein ruled easy. In the futures section, castorseeds June contract opened lower but firmed up at the end.

Linseed oil improved by Rs 10 to Rs 400. Castor oil commercial and BSS quality firmed up by Re one each to Rs 281 and Rs 293 per 10 kg, respectively.

Sunflower oil expeller eased by Rs 2 to Rs 410 per 10 kg. Copra oil white declined by Rs 5 at Rs 505 per 10 kg. Imported palmolein eased by Rs 3 at Rs 382 per 10 kg.

In the futures section, castorseeds June contract opened lower at Rs 1,292 dropping by a one rupee.

Castorseed June later firmed up to Rs 1,302 a quintal, before declining to Rs 1,292 and closing at Rs 1,302 a quintal.

In oilseeds, castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities firmed up by Rs five each to Rs 1,253 and Rs 1,247 a quintal, respectively.

Nigerseeds Madras looked up by Rs 25 to Rs 1,525 a quintal.

Sugar: An easy-to-downward trend was noticed in sugar prices at the local sugar market yesterday.

Sugar S-30 eased to Rs 1,450/1,500 against the previous level of Rs 1,465/1,500 a quintal, while sugar M-30 weakened to Rs 1,500/1,545 as against the previous level of Rs 1,500/1,560 a quintal.

Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1,440/1,460 a quintal for S-30 grade, while Rs 1,480/1,510 a quintal for M-30.

Non-ferrous metals: A firm-to-steady trend was witnessed in the local non-ferrous metals market yesterday.

In the scraps section, brass utensils shot up by 75 paise, while copper heavy scraps, copper utensils, and brass sheetcuttings looked up by 25 paise each to Rs 86.50, Rs 110, Rs 95.50 and Rs 90 a kg, respectively.

Meanwhile, aluminium utensils ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted at Rs 62 a kg on narrow movements.

In the virgin section, copper wirebar firmed up by 50 paise at Rs 120.50 a kg.

Meanwhile. all the other metals were nominally quoted as under: aluminium ingots Rs 82, zinc slabs Rs 73, lead ingots Rs 41.25, tin slabs Rs 345 and nickel cathodes Rs 312 a kg, respectively.

Bullion: A weak trend was noticed in the local bullion market yesterday.

In white metals, silver .999 and .916 declined by Rs 75 and Rs 95 to Rs 8,780 and Rs 8,640 a kg, respectively.

In yellow metals, both- standard gold and 22-carat gold eased by Rs 25 and Rs 20 to Rs 4,215 and Rs 3,900 per 10 grammes, respectively.

Gold biscuit prices also declined by Rs 300 to Rs 49,400 per piece of gold bar.
