Groundnut oil recovered from the reduced level on renewed demand coupled with normal arrivals while most other edible oils ruled downward-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market.
Groundnut oil edged up by Rs 2 at Rs 385 per 10 kg. The arrivals remained normal from the producing centres at about 12-15 trucks a day.
Linseed oil and sunflower oil expeller declined by Rs 3 each to Rs 330 and Rs 282 per 10 kg, respectively. Sesame and karanji oil drifted lower by Rs 5 and Rs 10 to Rs 495 and Rs 260 per 10 kg, respectively. Ricebran and soya oil refined weakened by Rs 2 and Rs 4 to Rs 217 and Rs 283 per 10 kg, respectively. Imported palmolein eased further by Rs 6 at Rs 270 per 10 kg on sluggish movements.
In the futures market, castorseeds June'99 contract opened Rs 26 up at Rs 1,638 a quintal and held steady at the same level. It declined and closed at Rs 1,687 a quintal on speculative movements. September'99 contract commenced at Rs 1,687 and firmed up to Rs 1,691 a quintal. It declined to Rs 1,687 before closing at Rs 1,691 on speculative movements.
