Trading Volumes Move Up To Rs 203.22 Crore

Trading volumes in the debt market segment of the National Stock Exchange inched up to Rs 203.22 crore yesterday. This was against Rs186.46 crore on Thursday.

On the other hand, inter-bank call money rates hovered around 4 per cent for the better part of the day. They, however, dropped to 3.75 per cent towards close.

The 13.50-per cent central government security maturing in 1998 was traded for Rs 102.74. The deal, to be settled the same day, was struck at a yield of 11.67 per cent. The paper attracted cumulative deals to the tune of Rs 35 crore.

The 13.50-per cent central government security maturing in 1997 also drew Rs 10 crore. The paper was traded at 10.67 per cent. The newly issued 13.40-per cent central government security maturing in 1999 was traded for Rs 5 crore. The transaction, to be settled the same day, was concluded at 13.14 per cent.

The 13.55-per cent central government security maturing in 2001 saw a Rs 5-crore deal at a price Rs 100.65. The trade was concluded at a yield of 13.45 per cent.

The long-term securities were traded in large numbers. The 14-per cent central government security maturing in 2006 saw some deal for Rs 1 crore at 13.67 per cent.

The 13.85-per cent central government paper maturing in 2006 was dealt for Rs 5 crore.
