Pivotals opened on an optimistic note on the Calcutta stock exchange yesterday and remained steady for the first session reflecting fresh offerings. But profit-booking at lower levels towards the later part wiped off the earlier gains and the prices closed more or less near to the previous days levels.

The CSE-50 index opened at 105.59 and soared to a high of 106.43, but keeping balance with the market trend shed to 106.22 at close, slightly higher than the previous close gaining 1.21 points due to interested buying in Hindustan Lever, Bata and Reckitt counters.

In the specified list, Hindustan Lever closed higher at Rs 1100, Bata at Rs 105.00, Grasim at Rs 337.10, Reckitt at Rs 263 and CESC at Rs 46.90. Among other counters ACC dipped to Rs 1266, H Motor at Rs 14.30, SBI at Rs 307.20, ITC at Rs 404.70, Tisco at Rs 175.90 and Tata Tea lower at Rs 237.20. The non-specified list shares too closed lower due to selling pressure.
