Defending champions Chennaiyin FC have the chance to register their first win of ISL 2018-19 when they face ATK at the Salt Lake Stadium. However, their hosts ATK would be equally eager to break away from the bad form that has left them in the sixth spot after winning just one of the four fixtures so far.
Chennaiyin, though, have fared worse and are languishing at the ninth spot with just one point after playing four games.
Home coach Steve Coppell informed that Kalu Uche, who was surprisingly left out of the squad, hurt his hamstring during training ahead of the match against Jamshedpur, and was thus not risked, but also said that the striker was fit to play on Friday.
The champions have been leaky in defence so far but the pair of Inigo Calderon and Eli Sabia looked confident against the Dynamos.
However, their finishing left a lot to be desired in Delhi. Considering the kind of chances Carlos Salom spurned, Gregory could bring back last year's top scorer Jeje Lalpekhlua into the starting XI.
Coppell though will have to take care of his side’s defensive issues at home. His side has faced 23 shots so far, 13 of which were from inside the box. Coming to the positives, midfielder Manuel Lanzarote has played a pivotal part in ATK’s last two matches having been involved in all three goals.
ATK and Chennai have faced each other 10 times and have three wins each while four matches ended in draw.
