ABB to use SSA Global solutions

SSA Global, a global provider of extended enterprise solutions and services, has announced that ABB, that is into power and automation technologies, will implement a worldwide agreement with SSA Global.

Under the contract that was finalised in April 2005 and valued at $3.5 million, ABB will increase the number of its employees using SSA Global solutions by nearly 25 per cent to more than 5,500, a press release said.

SSA Global is currently supporting ABB for its operations in 16 countries in three continents.

SSA Global is supporting the business unit's after-sales service initiative by delivering the functionality to reduce spare parts inventory, track and manage the ABB installed base, schedule and plan spare parts and field management and enhance project management capabilities.

ABB has outsourced its IT infrastructure to IBM as part of a 10-year strategic agreement.
