The BangaloreIT.in is in. After all the hiccups the Karnataka government's showcase event for IT industry faced, it is set to roll.

The Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA) is the latest to pledge its support. On Wednesday, ISA announced its support and participation in Bangalore IT.in. It also plans to organise a conference on the theme 'Accelerating Technology Incubation in the Semiconductor Space'.

Rajendra Kumar Khare, chairman, ISA said that technology and the semiconductor industry are synonymous. The industry can work through multi-level support from larger companies through spin-offs and tools, academic institutions, government participation and industry leadership.

He added that the intellectual capital in the space is unparalleled and the industry must leverage its strengths to achieve a competitive advantage.

The government on Wednesday said that over 20 countries, including Spain and Mexico, are expected to participate in the event. This will include over 115 international companies and 60 Indian companies.

Speaking on the occasion Shankaralinge Gowda, secretary (IT&BT), Government of Karnataka said the government plans to give more emphasis to tier II cities at the event.

He added that the government and the industry together are committed to sailing through all the hurdles in the run up to the showpiece event as this "is an event for the industry by the industry".

B V Naidu, director, Software Technology Parks of India (Karnataka region) said that there is a year-on-year growth of 28 per cent increase in the investments to the state from the IT industry.

He added that the BangaloreIT.in will highlight the emerging sectors in technology and provides a platform for participants to showcase their technology prowess and attract more business and investments.
