Bharti Airtel, the country's top telecom company, has bagged the "Best Global Wholesale Carrier for 2009" award at the Telecoms World Awards Middle East held in Dubai.
Telecoms World is an annual award function of Terrapinn, a business media organisation for global telecom carriers and services provider.
"The citation is recognition of Bharti Airtel's leadership in creating and delivering innovative wholesale solutions for global markets," Bharti Airtel said in a statement today.
One of the 11 award categories, the Global Wholesale Carrier category was open to wholesale telecom providers in wireline, fixed wireless, mobile or converged markets, the company said.
The award ceremony, attended by top executives from the telecommunication industry, recognised and celebrated the firms and individuals with an unparalleled ability to succeed and continually set standards of excellence.
