The security deposit (non-refundable) of Rs 500 while renting modem from BSNL has been made refundable for all customers of dataone including existing customers.
But the tariffs of the broadband service remains the same. BSNL's monthly plan is in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 3,300 for residences and Rs 1,200 to Rs. 9,000 for businesses.
The PSU had launched broadband services on January 14 from Chennai and is offering speeds of 256 kbps at Rs 500 per month.
BSNL had set a target of achieving two million broadband customers in 2006 and three million in 2007.
