Go Daddy launches operations in India

Go Daddy, the world’s largest provider of web hosting services, domain name registrations and new secure socket layer certificates today, launched operations in India. The company has appointed Rajiv Sodhi as managing director, Go Daddy India.

Sodhi, who earlier worked with Microsoft, is the first international executive appointed by Go Daddy. The company said he would oversee its expansion in India. Sodhi, who would be based near New Delhi, is already hiring a team for the company’s India operations.

Go Daddy said it had identified India as a priority market for its global expansion plans.

“Together, our vision is to expand our footprint in India, hire locally and serve customers in India through people who speak their language,” said chief executive Warren Adelman.

Launched in 1997, the company has 10.3 million customers globally and about 53 million domain names under management. Go Daddy has been offering ‘.in’ domain names, India’s country code extension, since January 2009.

Sodhi said, “Go Daddy offers a one-stop shop for small businesses and consumers looking to grow businesses on the internet. From a simple domain name or a mobile website to cloud services, Go Daddy has it all.”

The company, based in Arizona, US, has data facilities in Europe and Asia, as well as an office in Canada. By the end of this year, its office in India is expected to its largest globally.
