Although it launched its first search product in 1999 which achieved instant fame, product launches for Google picked up only in 2003.
It launched nine products in 2006 and eight in 2007.
Speaking at Kshitij, the IIT-Kharagpur annual festival, Surojit Chatterjee " product manager for Google, said, "We constantly innovate to stay ahead. As a thumbrule for innovation, we take into account ideas that come from all corners and people of any hierarchy."
According to Chatterjee, Google plans to spend 70 per cent of its time on developing core products which include its search and advertising products.
It will spend 20 per cent of its time on related products such as gmail and googletalk, while the remaining 10 per cent would be spent on introducing out-of-the-box innovations like orkut and google park.
According to Chatterjee, as a business, Google generates revenue by providing advertisers with the opportunity to deliver measurable, cost-effective online advertising that is relevant to the information displayed on any given page.
This makes the advertising useful to consumers as well as to the advertiser placing it.
This is because Google believes users should know when someone has paid to put a message, so Google always distinguishes ads from the search results or other content on a page.
"Advertisers use Google AdWords program to promote their products and services on the web with targeted advertising, while thousands of website managers take advantage of the Google AdSense program to deliver ads relevant to the content on their sites, improving their ability to generate revenue and enhancing the experience for their users," Chaterjee added.
