iGate expands global delivery facility in B'lore

iGate, the Integrated Technology and Operations company, today launched phase four of its global delivery facility at its corporate campus in Whitefield area of the city.

The facility which provides 115,000 square feet of additional workspace in the company's green 13.5 acre campus is part of the firm's green initiative aimed at bringing down its carbon footprint and conserving power and water.

The company has pumped in Rs 65 crore initial investment in developing the facility out of which five percent was towards the green initiative, Phaneesh Murthy, CEO told reporters.

Another Rs 50-69 crore would be invested in phase five and six of the facility, he said. The facility, which could house 1050 employees, has LED and solar-powered lighting, an ozone-friendly air conditioning system, organic waster convertor, wastewater recycling system, aimed at bringing down the carbon footprint by 160 tonnes annually.

The energy efficiency was targetted at ensuring power saving of 55 kw per hour, he said.

The salient features of the green facility also include reduction of airconditioning load by optimising use of glass, creating a water harvesting pit that could store 20,000 litres and treatment of 40,000 litres of water a day, he said.

"Being environmentally friendly is a responsibility that we take seriously and we are proud to push the envelope with this new state-of-art one kind of building in the world," he said.
