Intelligroup Inc, a provider of strategic IT consulting, application management, support and implementation services, has launched iGive, a payroll giving programme that facilitates donating to a charity by having the donation deducted from an employee’s salary.

“We believe that there is a social purpose of being in business and that business has to go beyond making profits. It must improve the quality of lives of the workforce, their families and society at large. Our first initiative in this respect is the iGive programme,” Alok Pant, senior vice-president (global marketing and alliances,) Intelligroup, told Business Standard.

So far, around 350 of the company’s employees in Hyderabad signed up for iGive, donating Rs 2.5 lakh while the company contributed an equal amount.

The employees and Intelligroup have committed Rs 10 lakh each towards iGive this fiscal, and the total funds collected from the programme will be proportionately distributed to its partner organisations, Pant said.

Intelligroup has partnered Vandemataram Foundation in Hyderabad, Needy Illiterate Children Education (NICE) in Guntur, Sadhana, an NGO for mentally challenged in Hyderabad, Seva Bharathi, a home for destitute girls, Nilofer Hospital and Vatsala, an orphanage, to provide access to health and education to the underprivileged.

The company employs 2,500 globally, of which around 2,000 work out of its Hyderabad and Bangalore centres.

“We plan to rope in our overseas employees, besides our 350-odd clients in the US and Japan for the iGive programme from next year,” Pant said.
