IT firms to be spread over Punjab

"IT companies will not be restricted to Mohali. Rather, the thrust will be on development in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Ludhiana," said Tejpreet Singh Sandhu, who has recently joined as vice-chairman of Punjab Information & Communication Technology Corporation Ltd (Punjab Infotech).

He said he would suggest to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh making the IT park part of the upcoming special economic zone in Amritsar.

Talking to Business Standard, Sandhu said he would visit England and Scotland very soon to woo NRI investors to invest in Punjab. He said the available industrial area in Mohali had already been allotted, and that the government had already initiated the process of acquiring about 500 acres of industrial land for further allotment to industry.
