Bangalore-based Kavveri Telecom Products Limited, a manufacturer of antennas and RF products for the wireless industry, today announced setting up of a new subsidiary, Kavveri Telecom Infrastructure Limited (KTIL), for providing in-building telecom infrastructure to telecom service providers.

The new company will build network infrastructure inside the highrise buildings, on behalf of the telecom service providers, where the signals are weak. This will help the telecom service providers widen their service at no extra investment.

The entire investment on building the infrastructure inside the highrise buildings will be done by Kavveri, Shivakumar Reddy, managing director, Kavveri Telecom said.

The company will invest Rs 100 crore in the next two years to set up in-building telecom infrastructure in over 200 buildings, he said. Its current projects include NCPA building and Imperial Tower, the 63 floor building in Mumbai, UB City and Forum Mall in Bangalore.

He said the company will be the ‘neutral host provider’ as it will be setting up infrastructure for multiple service providers. It will collect fee from the telecom service providers and pay rent to the building owners for providing in-building coverage solution (IBS) which offers plug & play service to operators.

“With our long experience in equipment manufacturing business, we have the capability to provide high quality cost effective solution for GSM/CDMA telecom service providers for the build, operate and lease (BOL) model projects. This new concept of plug and play facility will help GSM/CDMA telecom service providers to significantly reduce their time to market their their in-building signal enhancement services,” Reddy said.

KTIL will be involved in the processes of acquiring partnership with builders and developers in offering technology, project management among other to efficiently manage the entire project. KTIL will undertake various activities such as acquisition of sites, site survey and design, equipment souring among others, he said.

The BOL model offers host of advantages to the service providers like no investment on cabling and plug and play — ready to use network and single point of contact for installation and post installation service.

This also provides benefits to the building owners towards good quality cellular coverage in buildings, satisfied clientele and regular revenue earnings from KTIL.
