MobiKwik, a New Delhi-based mobile wallet (m-wallet) player, has recorded 150,000 downloads for its Mobile Recharge and Bill Pay Android application since September 2012.
The MobiKwik is also the highest-rated recharge app on the Google Play Store and rated fourth among free apps in the shopping category, right behind flipkart.com. Mobikwik currently has 1.5 million users.
“Given the telecom boom in India and the high growth being experienced by smartphones, a mobile app becomes a vital route to customers as it provides the required engagement and ability to use the app on the go, irrespective of location factors,” Bipin Preet Singh, founder and chief executive of MobiKwik, said in a release on Wednesday.
“We expect the Android app to add millions of new users for MobiKwik as it will make m-wallet available in an easy and engaging way to a very large user base,” he added.
