Motorola India is expecting its wireless voice and data services business, which come under its public safety division, to grow at a rapid pace this calendar year, on the back of new e-governance projects and solutions for verticals.

Motorola started its voice and data services in India in 2006 and has grown 70 per cent year-on-year. Its public safety division currently contributes close to $30 million (around Rs 120 crore) to Motorola's overall $1 billion (around Rs 4,000 crore) India revenues.

The government and telecom sectors make up for 75 per cent of its revenues. Police and railways are its largest verticals right now under the government sector.

Motorola is also expecting a 30 per cent growth in its enterprise business this year that include fixed, Wi-Fi and Wimax solutions for various educational institutes, hospitals and IT companies.

"Manipal University already uses Motorola's Wi-Fi services for its campus. IIT-Delhi will soon be Wi-Fi-connected for wireless coverage using Motorola solutions," a company official told Business Standard on the sidelines of Infocom 2008 in Kolkata.
