Finnish mobile handset maker Nokia will be launching 15 to 20 new models during the current calendar year, according to Viral Oza, director (marketing – India).
“We have lined up some exciting models, which will be launched at regular intervals. On an average, we launch 15 to 20 new models every year. I don’t think it will be different this year though some of our models launched in global markets may not be finding their way into India,” he told mediapersons after launching three new models – Nokia Asha 200, Asha 300, and X2-2 – here on Thursday.
The company currently has around 37 models in its portfolio, including five touch-and -type handsets. “The touch-and-type category is an expanding range. More and more models are coming in the category as it’s doing extremely well,” Oza stated.
The Nokia Asha 200 is the company’s first qwerty dual SIM device offering one-click access to email and chat via Nokia Messaging and other social networking services like Facebook. Priced at Rs 4,759, the handset comes with Nokia Browser.
The Asha 300, available at Rs 7,409, features both touch screen and keypad for easier texting and messaging. The Rs-3,599 X2-2 dual SIM handset comes with an easy swap feature and gives users the option to personalise up to five SIM cards. While Asha 200 is available for sale now, the other two models will hit stores, across the country, in the next two weeks.
The company also introduced Nokia Music Unlimited, its free music service.
