Reliance IndiaMobile (RIM) phones across the country, except in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar circles, have been converted to a 10-digit series, beginning with 93, Reliance Infocomm head (post-paid business) Inder Bajaj said in a release here today.
"This is truly an unparalleled operation in the history of the telecom industry and we have taken utmost care to ensure that RIM subscribers were not inconvenienced in this number conversion process," he said.
The new series would replace old RIM numbers in all circles, while the dual availability of numbers (Reliance was offering services on two numbers, the old and new numbers), would cease from December one, 2004, it said.
Infocomm is also providing a toll free number (*388), return SMS facility and has put up a website to help customers in the migration process.
