Many Silicon Valley residents go to Stanford to study, launch a promising entrepreneurial start up and then sell it for a hefty profit.

Mohsen Moazami is the exception to this rule. Moazami went on to be a senior partner at Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA) in charge of its global e-business practice and is at present vice president and global managing director, retail sector, internet business solutions group, Cisco Systems.

He firmly believes that technology has to be used for living rather than being abstruse and is fascinated by the way public sector companies and developing governments use technology.

His current passion, though, is the use of technology in the retail industry. As Moazami sees it, technology will not only help retailers capture data and target consumers but will also help in taking local decisions that will deliver products faster to clients, thereby helping to keep inventory levels down.

Not surprisingly, he is kicked about Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) technology.

When he's not helping companies like Sony, Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Procter & Gamble scale up their e-businesses, what does he do?

Why, he plays tennis and goes biking and hiking with his three children.
