Satyam Computer Services Ltd is in parleys with the Australian government and industry officials for the creation of an entry-level talent pool in Australia to fuel the local IT industry.

Senator Helen Coonan, minister for communication, information technology and arts, Shaun Anthony, advisor to the minister, and other Australian delegates met Satyam's founder and chairman Ramalinga Raju at the company's development centre in Bangalore.

According to a press release, Raju shared Satyam's experience in the implementation of shared services model with the delegates and proposed an initiation of the same in the government sector in Australia.

He also volunteered Satyam's contribution to work with the Australian government towards enhancing maturity in IT processes. Satyam has established its largest global development centre outside India in Melbourne and has two centres of excellence for data warehousing and policy administration. It has invested over $4 million in infrastructure to build a 35 per cent local workforce in Australia.

This year, the company has initiated a strategic tie-up with the Victorian University and the University of Melbourne to induct fresh graduates into Satyam's entry-level training programme.
