Satyam Computer Services, a global consulting and information technology services company, has opened a 150-seat development centre in North Sydney. The facility will serve as a regional solutions hub. Satyam also has development centers in Melbourne and York Street in the Sydney Central Business District. "Australia is an important market for Satyam, and the new centre will offer the same expertise and project management capabilities typified by our Australian operations. The capabilities will provide customers throughout the region with improved agility and responsiveness they need to excel in a competitive business environment," B Rama Raju, Satyam's co-founder and chief executive officer, said in a press release issued here today.Satyam will hire 50 graduates over the next three months to work in the centre, and another 50 in the following year. The additions will take Satyam's Australian workforce to 700. Satyam began its operations in Australia in 2001 with 10 associates. Today, with presence in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and Brisbane (the latter two are sales offices), Satyam is catering to the needs of leading Australian organizations across industries.
